The world-renowned Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®) provided evidence-based social skills programs to pre-schoolers, adolescents and young adults many of whom have a diagnosis of autism, attention deficit/hyperactivity, anxiety, depression and other socio-emotional differences. It was first at UCLA in North America and has since been translated into over a dozen languages and is used in over 80 countries internationally.
Leonie and her associates are Certified PEERS providers having completed separate training programs under the teaching of Dr Elizabeth Laugeson and her team who are based at UCLA in California, USA.
PEERS® is one of few programmes that has a strong evidence-base for developing social understanding and interactions. It is unique to other programmes in involving parents as much as students.
PEERS® is run for a school term (approximately 12 weeks) on a weekly basis after school. There is a parent group and a separate student group held simultaneously. The groups have approximately 8 students and are broken into age groups. The tweens and teens programme for these ages is held in Marylebone Central London, while the pre-school programme (4-6 year olds) is held in Parson’s Green, SW London.
